Terry on Malibu Moon colt: "Malibu Moon has made a huge rise from an obscure Maryland stallion to one of the country’s leading sires. This is a sharp, sharp dude who is correct and athletic. What I love most about this colt is his balance; he's one of the most balanced yearlings I've ever seen."
Jeff Lifson, "This is really nice colt. I mean really nice. He really caught our eye this summer at Saratoga. He's very racy and looks like the type of horse that's going to be versatile. That's important to have."
- Malibu Moon is currently 7th on the general sire list in North America. Son of great sire and sire of sires A.P. Indy, he is the father of champion 2-year-old Declan's Moon in his first crop, and has since added six more Grade 1 winners, including Life At Ten, Devil May Care, and the brilliant sprinter Malibu Mint.
- Nine of Malibu Moon's 54 stakes winners are out of Northern Dancer line mares, including graded winners Malibu Pier, Sweet August Moon, Raw Silk, and Ah Day.
- This colt is the third foal out of the good winner Bandstand, by the great broodmare sire Deputy Minister, whose line is responsible for the dams of two of Malibu Moon's stakes winners. Bandstand is half sister to stakes winners Weather Warning and Foolishly, and to the dam of the talented Tiznow colt American Lion, winner of the Illinois Derby(G3). Two-time horse of the year Curlin is also out of a Deputy Minister mare.
- A handsome chestnut colt with chrome, he’s a well-balanced, striking individual.
